MEET OUR TECHNICIANS
Our technicians are certified in both air-cooled and water-cooled engines.
Mark started his career at Volkswagon S.D. Motor Imports. He was overtaken with Porsche when Tom Houser (President of Porsche Club) drove his white 930 Turbo onto the lot. Mark talked Mr. Houser into giving him a ride and was hooked on Porsche ever since!!! Mark then made a career move to Alan Johnsons Porsche-Audi on Rosecrans where he worked for approximately 11 years. He was P.D.I. on several of the cars on the road today…perhaps even yours! Mark was also employed with Alan Johnson Racing for many years where he worked on Alan’s 924D production race car and his red 914-6. He then spent 7 years at Pioneer Porsche on Miramar Road. His experience and factory training from Alan Johnson and Pioneer prepared him to work on all Porsche systems. His fabrication skills and service work tips are excellent. He has worked in the automotive field for 45 years with all makes and models: Ferrari to Fiat, Mercedes Benz to Bentley, Lamborghini to most anything that has wheels!
Tom started his automotive career over 40 years ago at his father’s VW repair shop in New Jersey. His Dad, a factory trained VW Tech, taught Tom the skills and techniques to service those early air and water cooled VWs. It was one day while attending a car show that things changed. He saw a Porsche turbo for the first time and that was it; he knew that was the direction he wanted to steer toward. His break came in 1985 and he was hired at Paul Miller Porsche + Audi as a service Tech. His goal was to become a Porsche Master Technician, and he was on his way to achieving that. He then married his high school sweetheart and moved to San Diego in 1988 (his kids thank him for
that move quite often) where he started working at Pioneer Centres. He remained at Pioneer for 25 years where he became a Porsche Master technician as well as shop foreman for ten of those years. Tom is trained in diagnosing and repairing all Porsche systems as well as being Carrera GT trained. Tom brings 28 years of Porsche factory training and experience to Makellos Classics. He currently lives in Escondido with his family and other than spending time with them, he enjoys motorcycling, mountain biking, golf and cooking.
