This car is proof that not all projects require a full restoration. This well-running 67,000 mile 911T (lovingly named “3 ball”) was originally brought in as a solid platform for a much larger transformation, however as soon as we drove it we realized that there’s no reason to fix what isn’t broke.
The motor and transmission were completely stock, yet in extremely nice condition. We decided to do a service on the factory 2.2 engine and open things up with a Billy Boat exhaust system. The transmission was shifting smoothly from the start, which turned even more buttery once we changed the transmission fluid.
To keep the car planted during spirited runs, the suspension was replaced for new Bilstein B6s with stiffer bushings and turbo tie rods. Hidden behind the new Group 4 Campagnolo 15x7 wheels were rebuilt brakes with Pagid orange pads for reliable shedding of speed. Lightweight RS carpet was installed along with a rear seat delete along with RS style door panels to keep things light and nimble. GTS Classics bucket seats with pepita inserts were installed to hold the driver firmly in their seat during those turn turns. Finishing off this build a vinyl livery was added to compliment the orange and gold tones prior to its road tour on Momo’s Road to Rennsport Reunion VI (gallery.)
